Seoul National University College of Engineering announced that the 13th Engineering Project Management (EPM) Congress and EPM Awards Ceremony were successfully held on December 6 at Hall 303 under the supervision of the EPM program, led by Professor Junboum Park of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
First launched in February 2018, the EPM Congress is held biannually to foster engineering jobs and business opportunities. It aims to establish an innovative growth platform for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, focusing on the design and sustainable implementation of actionable projects by 2030.
The official event began with an opening speech by Junboum Park, the EPM Program Director, followed by congratulatory addresses from Young-oh Kim, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Donghyuk Lee, President of the EPM Alumni Association and Safety Innovation Director at Incheon International Airport Corporation. This year's Congress, themed "AI4PM: Empowering PM with AI," commenced with a keynote lecture by Jaekyu Choi, CEO of Magic École. The morning session featured presentations from graduate and undergraduate students, including Changsoo Kim, a master's student at the Graduate School of Engineering Practice, discussing research outcomes and future applications of AI in project management (PM).

In the afternoon session, the 8th Smart PMC Conference and the 1st National Advanced Strategic Industry Conference were held concurrently. At the Smart PMC Conference, industry leaders such as Seoktae Ko (CEO, Minds & Company), Sooyeol Yang (CTO, Crowdworks), and Sangkyun Woo (Manager, Korea Electric Power Corporation) presented on "AI4PM Research Directions and Outcome Creation." Meanwhile, the National Advanced Strategic Industry Conference featured discussions led by Changwoo Park (Director, National Advanced Strategic Industry Global Innovation Talent Program) and Seongkyun Mok (CEO, OPMC) on "Planning and Risk Management in International Collaborative R&D Projects."
During the EPM Awards Ceremony, Youngchan Lee, Vice President of Korea East-West Power and EPM alumnus, received the 'Proud CEPM' Grand Prize. This honor is awarded annually to alumni who have significantly contributed to national and industrial development through project management achievements, thereby enhancing the prestige of their alma mater.
Following the awarding of the ‘Proud CEPM’ Grand Prize, special contribution awards were presented to Seongkyun Mok, CEO of OPMC, and the late Youngtae Cho, former President of the Korea Conformity Laboratories. Shinyoung Seo, Secretary General of the EPM Secretariat, received an appreciation plaque. Additionally, Youngje Cho, a master’s student in the Department of Applied Engineering at the Graduate School of Engineering Practice, along with six others, was awarded the Star Project Manager (SPM) Certification Plaque.
Afterwards, Dr. Eun-Sang Yoon, serving as a member of the EPM faculty and the Director of the Project Management Division at the National Agency for Administrative City Construction, announced the theme of the next Congress to be held in June next year as “Competitiveness of Public and Private Organizations; Mega Project Management Capabilities” and gave a keynote presentation, and announced that the Congress will be held jointly at the Sejong Joint Campus in Sejong City and Gwanak Campus. The EPM Congress 2024 Seoul concluded with a special lecture by Tae Woong Park, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hanbit Media, author of Park's AI Lecture 2025.
