Seoul National University Inter-university Semiconductor Research Center announced that it has received a donation of a probe station from MSTECH, a specialized semiconductor equipment company, to enhance semiconductor workforce training and research capabilities.

This donation aims to support the competitiveness of South Korea's semiconductor industry and strengthen industry-academia collaboration for the cultivation of future semiconductor talent.

A probe station is a critical piece of equipment used to measure and analyze the electrical characteristics of semiconductor chips and devices during their development. The donated probe station is capable of operating at high temperatures and accommodating wafers of various sizes, significantly contributing to the advancement of semiconductor research and training environments.

The SNU Inter-university Semiconductor Research Center plans to utilize the donated equipment to improve the training environment for undergraduate and graduate students, enhance cutting-edge semiconductor experimentation and research capabilities, and actively expand cooperation with various companies in the semiconductor equipment and technology sector.

As advanced research utilizing this equipment becomes more active, it is expected to drive industry-academia joint research, accelerate the commercialization of next-generation devices, and promote a culture of donation, thereby generating positive ripple effects throughout South Korea’s semiconductor education, research, and industry ecosystems.

Hyuk Jae Lee, Director of the Inter-university Semiconductor Research Center, emphasized, "Securing cutting-edge equipment is essential for fostering semiconductor talent. MSTECH's generous donation will not only significantly support education and research but also contribute to the bright future of the domestic semiconductor industry." He added, "The SNU Semiconductor Research Institute will continue to collaborate with various companies to strengthen South Korea’s global competitiveness in the semiconductor field."

MSTECH CEO Myung-Soo Kim stated, "For Korea's semiconductor industry to advance and be recognized globally, young talents must be provided with a strong research environment to enhance their skills in semiconductor device measurement and analysis." He continued, "I hope this donation will contribute to SNU Semiconductor Research Institute’s efforts in nurturing outstanding talent, and MSTECH will continue to actively participate in industry-academia collaborations."

Meanwhile, MSTECH is a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of semiconductor measurement equipment and precision instruments, offering highly reliable and accurate semiconductor testing solutions built on years of technological expertise. The company boasts a diverse lineup of probe stations and is expanding its market competitiveness through collaborations with domestic and international semiconductor research institutions and industries.
