Seoul National University College of Engineering announced that it signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with Woori Financial Group on April 4 to lead future innovation through the convergence of finance and technology.
Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to jointly promote the discovery and support of tech-based startups, operate specialized educational programs tailored to digital and IT fields, and conduct collaborative research integrating finance and advanced technologies. The partnership is expected to maximize synergies between the financial industry and cutting-edge technologies, contributing to the development of the finance-technology ecosystem.
In particular, Innovation Center for Engineering Education of SNU will strengthen its collaboration foundation for conducting technological research at the intersection of IT and finance. It will also offer customized, in-depth training programs to nurture hands-on experts in artificial intelligence (AI) and big data. Furthermore, the SNU Engineering Consulting Center—SNU Engineering’s dedicated industry-academia cooperation institution—will work in conjunction with Woori Financial Group’s startup support program “DinnoLab” to further promote the growth of technology-driven startups.
Dean Young-oh Kim of the SNU College of Engineering stated, “This agreement marks a meaningful starting point for creating an innovation ecosystem by identifying future businesses where finance and technology converge.” He added, “We will continue to work closely with Woori Financial Group to build a model of effective industry-academia collaboration that delivers tangible results.”
Il-jin Ok, Vice President of Woori Financial Group, remarked, “Through this agreement, we aim to accelerate financial innovation grounded in technology and contribute to the development of startups and the financial industry.” He continued, “By collaborating with SNU College of Engineering, we will further strengthen the future competitiveness of the financial sector.”
