Seoul National University College of Engineering announced that it has selected four alumni—Dong-wook Lee, President and CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution; Hyun Ahn, President and Chief Development Officer of SK hynix; Joo Sun Choi, President and CEO of Samsung SDI; and In-hwa Jang, Chairman and CEO of POSCO Holdings—as the recipients of the 2025 'Proud Engineering Alumni' award. The awards ceremony was held on April 2.

The 'Proud Engineering Alumni Award' is presented to SNU College of Engineering alumni who have significantly contributed to the advancement of industrial technology or achieved notable academic accomplishments, thereby enhancing the university's reputation. Since its inception in 1993, the award has been conferred upon a total of 117 alumni, including 34 from international activities and 83 from domestic activities, over 32 ceremonies.

The ceremony included a report on the selection process and the achievements of the awardees, presentation of plaques and commemorative gifts, congratulatory remarks by Young-oh Kim, Dean of SNU College of Engineering, and acceptance speeches from the awardees.

Dong-wook Lee, who graduated from the Department of Mechanical Design in 1983, has led the commercialization of technologies in the construction machinery sector at HD Hyundai Infracore. As President and CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution, he is currently spearheading the digital transformation of the domestic construction machinery industry, including demonstrations of unmanned and automated construction sites.

Hyun Ahn, a 1990 graduate of the Department of Nuclear Engineering, has been at the forefront of semiconductor technology research and development at SK hynix. As President and Chief Development Officer, he has played a pivotal role in developing total memory solutions for AI applications, thereby strengthening the global competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry.

Joo Sun Choi, who earned his degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering in 1986, has made significant contributions to the OLED field through his leadership in foldable display development at Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display. As President and CEO of Samsung SDI, he is currently driving innovation in the secondary battery sector by popularizing advanced technologies.

In-hwa Jang, a 1981 graduate of the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, has dedicated over 30 years to advancing the materials industry, including steel and secondary batteries, at POSCO Group. As Chairman and CEO of POSCO Holdings, he serves as Chairman of the Korea Iron & Steel Association and as an executive member of the World Steel Association, contributing to the development of manufacturing and engineering both domestically and internationally.

Dean Young-oh Kim remarked, "SNU College of Engineering has consistently produced engineering talents who turn imagination into reality and drive change in the world. We hold the passion and efforts of our four distinguished alumni, who have led advancements in their respective industries, in the highest regard." He added, "Moving forward, SNU College of Engineering plans to more actively identify and promote the achievements of alumni who have contributed to the nation's development."
